Labels are a great way of simplifying complex on-chain interactions into easily understood “memes”. We’ve recently reorganized labels in Spellbook to make it much easier to navigate, contribute to, and utilize in analysis. While we’ve already seen the utility of manually labelled wallets such as CEX/Fund addresses, there is even more power to be had in query based labels (i.e. using some sort of model logic). We want to push for open-source labels that anyone can build upon.
Query based labels can be used in analysis to tell us more about who is performing a set of actions, as well as the hidden implied value of their actions. If you see a new NFT project with a large number of top 1% NFT trader
labelled wallets minting, that’s a bigger signal than just ETH raised by the project.
You can find all the current labels and a contribution guide in the spellbook repo. It might look fancy, but it’s all just SQL files and documentation.
These labels can exist on any blockchain we support, so on EVM chains like Ethereum, Fantom, Binance (BNB), Gnosis, Optimism, Arbitrum, Polygon, Avalanche, or even the testnet Goerli. We also support other chains such as Bitcoin and Solana.
